🤔 New to the area?

Minnesota is known as Land of 10,000 Lakes (but there are actually 11,842 lakes of 10 acres or more). The state motto, L’Étoile du Nord is French for Star of the North. The lonely call of the Loon, which you are likely to hear near sunset on or near the lake, belongs to the state bird. Minnesota even has a state muffin- blueberry. Look for the state apple- Honeycrisp- in stores and fruit stands in late summer, they are sweet and juicy!

💡 Fun fact

Minnesota is the northernmost state of the contiguous United States. The furthest point, called the Northwest Angle, was created due to a map maker’s mistake. The map made the border official in the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Bring your passport if you plan to visit- this unique locale is only accessible through Canada, or a really long boat ride across Lake of the Woods.
